Basic Mom Week in Review - 07/05/15
/5 Things That Actually Happened This Week and the Lessons I Learned
1. While playing outside with extended family, my toddler decided she was over it and took it upon herself to start removing her swimsuit in front of everyone.
Lesson: My toddler really needs to get it together.
2. I came across this while Buzzfeeding and felt it was so applicable to my life that I took a picture of my computer screen and texted it to my best friend:
Lesson: Toad would really get me.
3. Speaking of eating, my dad stepped up when my husband wasn't feeling well to help me take my girls to the fair. My toddler wasn't tall enough to ride anything, but she was more than happy to snack with Papa. I caught this priceless moment while waiting to ride the Ferris wheel with my 6-year-old:
Lesson: My toddler and my dad are true kindred spirits.
4. My husband spent a few days in the hospital this week, which means I spent a few days going back and forth between my husband in the hospital and my daughters at home. Not fun (though made much easier by an extraordinarily helpful and supportive family). So, one afternoon, I insisted that we take a selfie in his hospital bed.
Lesson: When life gives you lemons, force your husband to smile, and take a silly selfie.
5. After day three of the hospital back-and-forth, I put the kids to bed and started a much-needed shower. About two minutes into my shower, my toddler started screaming from her crib because she dropped her pacifier. About two minutes after that, my 6-year-old ran in the bathroom and said her stomach hurt. About half an hour after that, my 6-year-old started throwing up.
Lesson: Sometimes, when life gives you lemons, it pours . . . and smells like vomit.
