My name is Valerie Jackson. I consider myself a basic mom, a tolerable wife, and a self-deprecating writer. I'm attempting to raise two young monsters into nice young ladies in Michigan. I have a law degree that’s only current use is to win arguments with my husband.

Basic Mom Blog is dedicated to presenting all sides of motherhood - the highs, the lows, the hilarity, the devastation, the food (because life is nothing without good food), and everything in between. Mostly I just write as candidly as possible about my experiences raising my daughters. Sometimes I even attempt to sing about it. I apologize for that.
