Basic Mom Week in Review - 05/08/16
/5 Things That Actually Happened This Week and the Lessons I Learned
1. We borrowed The Empire Strikes Back from the library. My 2-year-old took it upon herself to attempt to put it in the DVD player . . . and destroyed the disc.
Lesson: I think she used a little too much . . . force. (Nailed it.)
2. This interaction after my 2-year-old got a time out for purposely knocking her sister's book tower down for the second time:
Me: What should you do?
2-Year-Old: Say sorry.
Me: That's right.
2-Year-Old: Sorry, Mommy.
Me: Thank you. Now go say sorry to your sister. And mean it.
2-Year-Old: [runs out to the living room]
2-Year-Old: I'm sorry, Isla . . . I mean it.
Lesson: She didn't mean it.
3. To entertain themselves while at their uncle's softball game, my daughters turned a small pile of dirt into their own personal sandbox.
Lesson: Kids are sure to find a pile of dirt to play in on the day you cleaned their sheets and there is no time for a bath before bed.
4. My 2-year-old woke up Saturday morning yelling,
"I want a snack! I want to eat dinner!"
Lesson: My 2-year-old found a way to tap into my inner monologue.
5. My 7-year-old made this list of the things she loves:
Lesson: When it comes to the things my 7-year-old loves, the following come before Mom and Dad: 3 teachers, 5 friends, 3 school subjects, a fictional character, her favorite food, 2 colors, her sister, and Star Wars . . .
Happy Mother's Day!
