Basic Mom Week in Review - 05/31/15

5 Things that Actually Happened This Week and the Lessons I Learned

1. My toddler somehow managed to do this to disc 2 of our Wizard of Oz DVD set.

Lesson: My toddler is capable of breaking things in ways I never even knew were possible.

2. Quite some time after we put my toddler to bed, she was still making noises and moving around, so my husband went in to check on her. The next thing I heard was:

"How did you get your pants off?"

Lesson: We are really going to need to keep an eye on this one during the teenage years.

3. My toddler took an onion out of the cupboard and started trying to peel it as if she were going to snack on it. She was very angry with me when I told her to put it back.

Lesson: Maybe I should have let her learn the hard way.

4. My 6-year-old made this card for her kindergarten teacher:

Lesson: Next time I should make sure my daughter knows how to spell "teacher" before she gives her teacher a card thanking her for a great year of spelling.

5. I threw up and passed out on the couch at a bridal shower, and watched Frozen at a bachelor party - all in the same 24 hours.

This bears explanation. While at a family bridal shower, I had a bad reaction to medication. Hence the vomiting and passing out. Later that evening, I was one of two parents at my friend's bachelor party. The other parent happened to be driving us around in his fully-loaded minivan, and when he heard that some members of our party hadn't seen Frozen, he put it on as our entertainment as we drove from destination to destination.

Lesson(s): (1) Never take that medication again (at least not after a mimosa), and (2) a van full of guys watching Frozen for the first time don't understand why all little girls want to be Elsa - Anna is clearly the cooler chick (I agree).
