Basic Mom Week in Review - 06/12/16
/5 Things That Actually Happened This Week and the Lessons I Learned
1. We let my 2-year-old pour ranch on her plate all by herself.
Lesson: We made a mistake.
2. My 7-year-old, after talking about putting her tooth under her pillow for the Tooth Fairy, picked up her little sister and said:
"I wish I could put you under my pillow and exchange you for money."
Lesson: If I had a dime for every time a similar thought crossed my mind, I wouldn't even need the money.
3. My 2-year-old insisted that I help her put on my running belt, and then she sprinted around the house for a while.
Lesson: My long runs would be easier if I could borrow some of my 2-year-old's energy and joy.
4. This conversation:
2-Year-Old: My knees hurt.
Me: Why?
2-Year-Old: From falling.
Me: Oh, I'm sorry.
2-Year-Old: Ice cream'll help me.
Lesson: My 2-year-old has already mastered the art of justifying her ice cream consumption. (With me as her mother, could I have expected any different?)
5. The girls in my daughter's class were very excited to beat the boys at tug-of-war during Field Day:
Lesson: Some may say it was an unfair victory because there were 14 girls and 11 boys . . . But, if they received paychecks, those 11 boys would be paid approximately as much as those 14 girls, so I'd say they earned their celebration. #equalpay
