Basic Mom Week in Review - 09/18/16

5 Things That Actually Happened This Week and the Lessons I Learned

1. My 3-year-old went to her first preschool story time at the library. The class project was to make a seascape like the picture on the left. My 3-year-old's project is on the right.

Lesson: My daughter is going to be great at Pinterest fails.

2. This conversation with my 3-year-old after she declined my offer to help pick out my clothes, so I just threw on a comfy dress:

3-Year-Old: Not that dress, Mom.

Me: Why not? What's wrong with this dress?

3-Year-Old: It gives me the creeps.

Lesson: This seemingly inoffensive turquoise jersey dress is, apparently, the stuff of my child's nightmares:

3. My 3-year-old made this profound statement at the mall:

"It smells good in here. Smells like air."

Lesson: My daughter probably doesn't have a future in perfumery.

4. My husband was out of town, so we did some FaceTiming. My 3-year-old decided to spend her time with Dad as a blanket-ghost.

Lesson: I don't think I'll ever have to worry about my daughter being afraid to live her best life.

5. My dad uttered these words:

"I guess I gotta get on Facebook. Is it hard?"

Lesson: I better help him figure it out, because Facebook could use more of this guy:
