Basic Mom Week in Review - 12/27/15
/5 Things That Actually Happened This Week and the Lessons I Learned
1. I spent the better part of an evening stressing over what to wear to an "unofficial school reunion/bar night" because I was going to be seeing several people I hadn't seen in years. I finally decided on an outfit.
About 15 minutes later (and approximately 3 minutes before I was planning to leave the house), my 2-year-old threw up on me.
Lesson: Jeans and an old sweater it is.
2. This conversation after I walked into the kitchen while my husband was singing a song from Teen Beach 2 and I was humming "Funkytown":
Husband: Is this our life now? Just singing things from kids' entertainment?
Me: What are you talking about? I was singing a song from, like, the '70s.
Husband: Yeah, a song the Chipmunks sing to impress Dave.
Me: Shoot. I was wondering how that song got stuck in my head.
Lesson: This is our life now.
3. My 2-year-old decided that the best way for her to contribute to cookie-making was to cover her arm with flour.
Lesson: Baking cookies with kids looks a lot different in real life than in advertisements.
4. Someone left this comment on my Blank Space Parody video this week:
"4 stars out of 5 because it seems like your favorite child is the baby and parents should NOT have a favorite child.I still love it.😆😇"
In unrelated news, I had this conversation with my 6-year-old while discussing our Christmas wishes:
6-Year-Old: Mom, what do you want Santa to bring you for Christmas?
Me: Hmmm . . . I could use a belt.
6-Year-Old: You could probably fit in one of mine.
Lesson: If my 6-year-old keeps it up, she may just prove that Youtube commenter wrong.
5. I asked my 2-year-old to smile nicely for a picture with her sister and cousins. She did this instead:
Lesson: My 2-year-old is dedicated to authenticity of character. Merry Christmas from my little rascal!
