Basic Mom Week in Review - 01/29/17
/5 Things That Actually Happened This Week and the Lessons I Learned
1. My first-born turned 8!
Lesson: Eight years feels like approximately 4 minutes.
2. This conversational mix-up:
Me: I should make homemade croutons sometime.
3-Year-Old: Oh! Just like we sleep on at Gramma's house!
Lesson: Apparently, in my 3-year-old's brain "crouton" = "futon." Either that, or I need to have a talk with my mom about the sleeping arrangements at her house.
3. My 3-year-old offered to carry my water bottle to the car for me.
Lesson: Letting my 3-year-old carry my water bottle to the car for me was a mistake:
4. This interaction between sisters after I cleaned about 99.7% of my 3-year-old's room and she cleaned about 0.3% of her room:
3-Year-Old: [goes downstairs to help sister clean basement, begins playing with toys instead]
8-Year-Old: You're supposed to be helping me clean!
3-Year-Old: Um, I just cleaned my room, so my hands are tired.
Lesson: I have no idea where she gets [pauses to take a nap because my fingers have typed enough for now] that from.
5. My daughters got to make their own dolls using prop babies that my mother-in-law made for a baby shower.
Here's my 8-year-old's mini-me doll:
And here's my 3-year-old's work of horror:
Lesson: Sometimes your kid makes you proud, sometimes your kid makes lopsided red circles with dots in the middle and call them "boobs."
