Basic Mom Week in Review - 04/16/17

5 Things That Actually Happened This Week and the Lessons I Learned

1. My 3-year-old desperately wanted to sit in this "beautiful chair" while we were at the conservatory on Belle Isle . . . And then she refused to smile for a picture.

Lesson: I guess she doesn't care about the curation of Mom's Instagram account.

2. The girls and I went to a Chinese buffet for dinner with my best friend. At the end of the meal, my 3-year-old opened a fortune cookie and discovered that there was no paper inside. She paused briefly, then handed it to my friend and said, "Here, this one's yours."

Lesson: That's a pretty sick burn for a 3-year-old.

3. While playing a friendly family game of Uno, my husband played a "Draw 4" card on my 3-year-old.

Lesson: She didn't take it well.

4. I told my 8-year-old to put on something comfortable for the morning so we could run to the grocery store because she was just going to get changed into her Easter dress after lunch to go see the Easter Bunny.

She came out of her room like this:

Lesson: I shouldn't expect my 8-year-old fashionista to be anything but fabulous.

5. My 3-year-old was a little too reckless with her egg-dying technique.

Lesson: There is a negative correlation between red dye on the kitchen floor and my husband's tolerance of me finding my phone to take pictures. I think our conversation in this moment went something like this:

Me: Ooh! I need to get a picture!

Husband: What are you doing? Our kitchen is going to be stained red!

Me: I have a blog to maintain!

Husband: Put your phone down and get some towels!

Happy Easter from my house to yours!
