Basic Mom Week in Review - 05/07/17
/5 Things That Actually Happened This Week and the Lessons I Learned
1. My 3-year-old came running out of her room holding up some outgrown socks, excitedly saying: "Mom! You can sell these!"
Lesson: Perhaps I've been a little too active in the Facebook Mom-to-Mom groups lately.
Relatedly, I was entertained this week by this article about such Facebook groups.
2. I overheard this snippet while my daughters were playing dolls:
3-Year-Old: It's the hottest planet on Earth . . . It's Venus!
Lesson: Take it, Neil . . .
3. This conversation with my 3-year-old:
3-Year-Old: When am I going to be grown up?
Me: Not for a while.
3-Year-Old: [deep sigh]
Me: Why do you want to be grown up?
3-Year-Old: I just want to take care of my babies!
Lesson: I prefer my 3-year-old's version of being a grown up to the reality of being a grown up.
4. My 3-year-old struck this extra pose for a picture with her uncle and cousins:
Lesson: She's been studying old Farrah Fawcett pictures again.
5. This family conversation that started with a discussion of what my 3-year-old did at school for "feelings" week:
Husband: What did you say makes you happy?
3-Year-Old: Getting kisses.
Me (to 8-Year-Old): What makes you happy?
8-Year-Old: I don't know.
Husband: What makes Mommy happy?
8-Year-Old: FOOD!
Lesson: Apparently what makes my 8-year-old happy is roasting Mommy.
