Basic Mom Week in Review - 05/21/17
/5 Things That Actually Happened This Week and the Lessons I Learned
1. I received this Mother's Day letter from my 8-year-old:
Lesson: I can't tell if this is a sweet and innocent Mother's Day note or a passive aggressive way of telling me to stop being so anal.
2. This interaction between my 3-year-old and the principal at my 8-year-old's school:
Principal: I love your sparkly red shoes!
Me: What do you say?
3-Year-Old: Love you.
Lesson: Sometimes my daughter is just running on autopilot (I'm surprised she didn't say, "Sorry Isla.").
3. My 3-year-old pointed to the grease dumpster at our local breakfast joint and said, "Slimer did that!"
Lesson: I can't decide if I'm proud of my 3-year-old for knowing Ghostbusters references or mad at my husband for letting my 3-year-old watch Ghostbusters.
Either way, Slimer kind of is my spirit animal.
4. While at Toys'R'Us, I came across the 25th Anniversary edition of Totally Hair Barbie, which I remember being excited to receive as a child (just that dress brings on so many nostalgic feels).
Lesson: I'm totally getting old.
5. This conversation, while discussing emotions:
8-Year-Old: How do you think Daddy feels today?
3-Year-Old: Soft and fuzzy.
Lesson: Well, she's not wrong.
