Basic Mom Week in Review - 06/04/17
/5 Things That Actually Happened This Week and the Lessons I Learned
1. My 3-year-old started this new thing where when she decides she really likes something, she gives it a hug (or several hugs). As you can see below, she really likes the slide at the local playground and mayonnaise.
Lesson: Maybe the world would be a better place if we all showed each other the appreciation that my kid shows inanimate objects.
2. This conversation while in the car with my 3-year-old:
3-Year-Old: Mom, you're going fast.
Me: Yeah, I guess I'm going kind of fast.
3-Year-Old: Why?
Me: I don't know, I'm just driving.
3-Year-Old: And those idiots are going slow.
Lesson: Perhaps I do not model ideal driver behavior.
3. While planting some seeds that my 8-year-old brought home from school, she made this insightful remark:
"Weeds are like the supervillians of plants."
Lesson: I know pretty much nothing about gardening, but this sounds accurate.
4. I accidentally pulled the junk drawer out too far.
Lesson: It's probably not healthy that my initial reaction was to ask my husband if we could just move so I didn't have to clean it up.
5. My 8-year-old informed me 40 minutes before her recital start-time that she forgot to bring the necklace that was part of her costumes. So, I took a deep breath and drove across town and back in record time to deliver the necklace to my dancer.
After putting her to bed that night, my 8-year-old called me back to her room and said:
"I just feel really lucky to have you."
Lesson: Sorry, my heart exploded, so I'm unable to type anymore.
